Rendering Division
WCL operates the largest service rendering plant in New Zealand. Our collection area for casualty animals covers the Northland, Waikato, South Auckland, King Country, Bay of Plenty, Manawatu and the South Island, although we sub contract the rendering of casualty carcasses in the South Island, Manawatu and Taranaki regions. Waitoa handles some 25,000 dead cows and 250,000 dead calves each year so preventing a major ecological and health problem.
Species of animals processed through the plant include deer, sheep, cattle and chickens.
One of WCL’s main strengths is that it has a variety of different raw material suppliers enabling it to process consistent volumes all year round, thereby maintaining a constant supply of finished material to its customer base.
WCL also became a specialist poultry renderer processing the feathers, blood and offal from over 250,000 chickens a day.
Our Rendering Plant presently produces meat & bone meal, tallow, bloodmeal and feathermeal. By June 2005 we will also produce a poultry meal.
