Management Changes

Management changes at Wallace Corporation.

Over recent months we have been looking into some key areas of business strategy with a view to addressing a variety of strategic matters that have received insufficient attention.  The outcome from this work is that two new management positions have been created and I am very pleased to be able to announce that Neville Cross has agreed to take up one of these, being the role of General Manager – Innovation.  This is a pivotal senior management appointment that will enable the business to address areas that we have identified as being strategically important but have put insufficient resource into pursuing.

The role of General Manager – Innovation has broad responsibilities but some specifics include:
  • Energy: procurement of the businesses energy requirements, infrastructure projects, technological developments,  management of ETS policy and related particulars
  • Product and process innovations, with particular focus on rendering
  • Interaction with relevant research organizations, Government Ministries, and Agencies such as they relate to our innovation pathways and strategies
  • Innovation work relating to how we do things within the business

Being a broad role, there are further aspects to it that I have not detailed in this note, however because of Neville’s deep knowledge of the business, our site and the scientific and technological work Neville is already driving, he is the ideal candidate for this role which I am certain will assist in delivering strategic advantages to the business over the medium and longer term.

With Neville taking up the role of General Manager – Innovation we have inevitably had to address the management structure of our rendering business.  The role of General Manager – Rendering has been disestablished and the new role of Operations Manager – Rendering has been created.  I am also pleased to be able to announce that Gordon Henderson will be joining Wallace Corporation later in November in this capacity.  As Operations Manager – Rendering, Gordon will have management responsibility for all operational and engineering functions within the rendering business and will be a key person for our supplier relationships.

What I have outlined here are quite large but very positive changes to the way we run the business and position it for the future.  However, due to the size and to a degree the complexity of these changes, there will be a period of several months as we transition from the existing to the new structure.  Both Neville and Gordon will report directly to me.

I am certain that with Neville and Gordon in these new roles, over the medium and longer term they will both contribute significantly to our future successes.  Because there is a period of transition to establish the new management roles, for the immediate there is no change to your contact with Wallace Corporation and how things are managed ‘day to day’.  Over the next couple of months as we begin the transition process we will be in touch to discuss and arrange handover and relationship management matters.  The relationship we have with suppliers of raw material and services is extremely important to Wallace Corporation.  It is therefore important that such transitions are managed effectively and we are very cognisant of the importance of this.

In the meantime, if you have any questions relating to this, please feel free to contact me directly.

Yours sincerely

Graham Shortland
